Zanaco will face Green Eagles while, Zesco United lock horns with Buildcon in the semi-final matches of the 2019 Absa Cup on Saturday at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
Zanaco and Eagles are set to clash in the 12h30 kick off first semi-final match of the competition formerly called the Barclays Cup, after Zesco and Buildcon go head to head at 15h30.
This season’s re-branded competition is starting at the semi-final stage.
Zega qualified to this year’s competition after winning Stream A of the 2019 Transitional FAZ Super Division campaign while Zanaco made the cut for finishing runners up in the same stream.
Eagles booked a place in the semi-final as Stream B winners and Buildcon “Team Kopala” were second.
Of the four teams, Zesco have the best record in the competition having won the cup 5 times.
Zanaco have won this cup once in 2017 when they beat NAPSA Stars 2-1 in the final.
Meanwhile, this will be Buildcon’s first ever appearance in the Absa Cup and first clash against giants Zesco since they won promotion to the top league.
The Bankers and Kawale Boys are also meeting for the first in this competition.
Last year, the Bankers were eliminated from the competition at the quarter final stage following a 2-1 shock defeat against Young Green Buffaloes while Eagles were ejected by Green Buffaloes via a 1-0 score line.
Eagles and Buildcon are yet to lift the cup.
Winners will progress to the final slated for June 22 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
All Absa Cup matches will be broadcast live on SuperSport.
Meanwhile, Nkana won last year’s edition when they beat Young Green Buffaloes 3-1 in the final at Heroes National Stadium in Lusaka.
