WORLD football governing body FIFA has cleared Zambian International female footballer Barbara Banda to feature in the ongoing 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco, Zambianfootballnews.com understands.
In a FAZ petition statement obtained by Zambianfootballnews.com, FAZ writes;
”With this background, we would like to appeal to CAF to reconsider their decision (which clearly discriminates other players who may have certain characteristics) and allow Barbara Banda and other unnamed players who may have fallen in that bracket to compete at CF competitions as a way of making them recover from trauma of rejection from the sport that means life to them and their families as there is no guarantee that the said players will be same after this experience.
The CAF eligibility is completely at variance with the FIFA Gender Verification protocols which we believe remains applicable in FIFA organized tournaments and other leagues globally. To this effect we find the CAF requirement intrusive and discriminatory and should be discarded”
Others that were flimsily dropped due to CAF elegibility rules are Racheal Kundananji and Racheal Nachula.
It remains to be seen if the squad list would be updated to accommodate dropped players after this FIFA directive or they will feature in future tournaments.
