Mbesuma Calls For Talent Identification to Save Chipolopolo

VETERAN goal-poacher Collins Mbesuma says players of his generation should invest in talent identification as a way of securing the future of Zambian football.

Mbesuma said there is a need for players to join forces and establish academies in a bid to give chance to those who will make the generation of the next Chipolopolo stars.

He is in the country for the annual Mbesuma Foundation tournament where 24 youth teams are expected to take part in a two-day event in Luanshya this weekend.
Mbesuma said this yesterday when he paid a courtesy call on Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Copperbelt Province chairman Patrick Ndhlovu and his deputy Gabriel Kaunda in Kitwe.

“I think that is where we have lost it in the past. You can see on the international level naikosa [it is tough]. We are not doing well, after 2012 there was a gap. Some players retired and we left a gap, where to? We don’t know, so I think that is why academies are important” outlined Mbesuma.
