Katongo: I Was Not a Born Footballer

ZAMBIA’s 2012 AfCON winning captain Christopher Katongo has lamented that he was not a born footballer nor was he talented but hardwork, discipline and passion helped him excel in his footballing career.

In a clarion call for upcoming footballers, Katongo called for ‘young footballers to have the passion as that was the only driving vehicle for them to excel.

“I want all the aspiring players to hear this and mungufwe bwino Saana. There are players who are born with the gift to play football and there are those who take interest. Like I have always said, I wasn’t born a footballer but I have a great passion pali bola that I gave it my all and that was my driving vehicle.

“Years later we made this country proud and the African continent. You may not have been born a footballer but your passion will take you places. Hang in there muchisungu,” said Katongo.
