Forest Rangers Football Club head coach Ian Bakala has signed a new 3 year contract with the club.
Coach Bakala has agreed to a three-year extension, putting pen to paper on a deal which keeps him at Forest until 2025.
Ian Bakala joined the club 8 games before the end of the 2021/22 season. In these games he recorded, 3 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses. It is also during this period that the cub scored their highest number of goals in their super league history, 5-2 against Green Buffaloes.
The head coach’s previous contract was a short term one, subject to a review after the end of the 2021/22 season.
Club Chairman, Ray Mumba confirmed this development in an interview with the club media team, saying that the initial short term contract with Bakala which was subject to a review at the end of the season and without a doubt the club believes he is the right man for the job.
“Even before the end of the season, we decided to extend his contract because we were happy with his performance during the 8 games he was in charge. As an executive, we believe he is the right coach for Forest Rangers without a doubt.” Mumba said.
Speaking at the same event, Bakala said He was happy with the way he worked with the club in this short period and he believes Forest is capable of fighting for the title in the coming season.
“Next season we have to compete in the ABSA Cup and for the league title. Red Arrows won it with a young coach and it has given us confidence as Forest and looking at the caliber of players we have and the ones we are going to bring in, we will be capable of fighting for the title.”
The club has equally signed a three-year-deal with his Assistant, Kennedy Kashobondo.
The Chairman, Ray Mumba congratulated the duo for what they were able to achieve in the last 8 games and assured them of the executives’ full support to ensure the club achieves the set objectives next season.
