ZAMBIA’s AfCON 2012 winning right back Davies Nkausu has revealed that despite winning the 2012 tournament, non of the players have been paid for winning Africa’s biggest football trophy.
“It’s 10 years now since we won the Africa cup of nations and up to now we haven’t been paid anything for bringing the cup to Zambia” lamented Nkausu.
The then FAZ adminstration led by legendary Zambian former footballer Kalusha Bwalya failed to pay the players their emoluments despite the Confederations of African Football (CAF) paying the winning prize of $1.2million.
THE Confederation of African Football (CAF) released US$1.2 million to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) for the Chipolopolo’s triumph at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations and each player was to be be paid K48,875,000 ($59,000) at the time for their gallant performances.
This is in addition to the K300 million that each player received from government as a winning bonus.
