Preview: Zambia Battle Equ. Guinea In Dead Rubber Match

Zambia’s Chipolopolo and Equatorial Guinea square off for the second time in four days at the weekend in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The reverse fixture in Malabo ended with the home side pulling off a 2-0 victory over Chipolopolo, who were also reduced to 10-men early on.
The Chipolopolo boys return to action at 18:00 this evening at National Heroes Stadium firmly focussed on righting the first leg loss to Equatorial Guinea suffered on Thursday in Malabo.

Moroccan referee El Jaafari Noureddine stole the show in the first leg with some controversial decisions that included a first half red card to Prince Mumba.

On Sunday, the focus may purely be on the game with the Chipolopolo aiming to honour the return of fans to stadia with a win.

Zambia will miss Leicester City striker Patson Daka and defensive midfielder Dickson Chapa who have been ruled out due to suspension after accumulating two yellow cards.

Russia based Evans Kangwa remains on the mend for a hamstring injury sustained while playing for his club Arsenal Tula.

Chambeshi has summoned Zanaco midfielder Kelvin Kapumbu to re-enforce the depleted squad.

Upfront Glasgow Rangers striker Fashion Sakala is expected to lead the attack with support from Clatous Chama, Rally Bwalya and Edward Chilufya. Zambia has credible options in youngster Jimmy Mukeya and Brian Mwila.

The central defence partnership of Tandi Mwape and Dominic Chanda is a sure bet while Benedict Chepeshi and Prosper Chiluya may compete the set up.

In goal Mwenya Chibwe is set to maintain his place while Gregory Sanjase and Lameck Siame will be also lining up for the position.
