Zambian Players Abroad: Weekend Wrap

We wrap it up on how Zambian Players and coaches abroad fared in the week ending 17-19th September.

Zambian Physician Moono Munsanje [Team Doctor at Township Rollers] and all at Rollers are training behind closed towards and awaiting the green light from the Health Authorities in that Country as to when football can resume.

In the TNM Super League, Britain-trained Zambian coach Dan Kabwe guided his Silver Strikers side to an emphatic 3-0 win over Be Forward Wanderers. The 3 points earned ensured that Strikers held on to their 2nd spot on the log table, 3 points behind log leaders Nyasa Big Bullets who have a game in hand.

In the Botola Pro, Zambian midfield marvel Clatous Chota Chama put in a very impressive 72 minutes shift on his debut for the RS Berkane side that shared the points after playing to a 1-1 draw in their home encounter against Olympic Safi.

UD Songo exited the CAF Champions League after they were beaten 4-3 on post-match penalties by Congo Brazzaville side AS Otoho. Zambian defensive midfielder Thomas Nyirenda featured for Songo.

Over in the Mocambola, former Kaizer Chiefs striker Lewis Macha featured for the Ferroviario de Nampula side that slipped to a 2-1 defeat away at log leaders Black Bulls.

Zambian coach William Chilufya who serves as assistant coach at Tura Magic is currently on break and spending part of it in Zambia.

Namibian โ€“ born midfielder of Zambian descent Innocent Saul Tembo and all at Orlando Pirates are on season break.

The Zambian duo of Rainford Kalaba and Tandi Mwape both featured for the TP Mazembe side that recorded a 1-0 victory in their Club Friendly encounter against Simba SC away in Dar es Salaam on what was Simba Day. Their club and country-mate Kabaso Chongo did not travel with the team. On the opposite end, midfielder Rally Bwalya featured for Simba.

In the DSTV Premiership, reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns thrashed TS Galaxy 3-0. Zambian goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene was not included in the Sundowns match day squad.

Amazulu survived a scare in their CAF Champions League second leg encounter against Nyasa Big Bullets away in Malawi which they won by a 3-1 aggregate score. Zambian attacking midfielder Augustine Mulenga did not travel with the team owing to an injury.

Kaizer Chiefs were handed a shock 4-1 defeat when they took on Royal AM. Former ZESCO United striker Lazarous Kambole was not part of the 18 man Chiefs match day squad.

SuperSport United thrashed Moroka Swallows 3-0 much to the delight of Zambian winger Gamphani Lungu [unused substitute] ho was celebrating his Birthday on the day. Former Black Leopards striker Mwape Musonda featured for the Swallows side that had to do without the services of Zambian midfield genius Austin Muwowo who is yet to feature for the Dube Birds.

Zambian goalkeeper coach Davies Phiri and all at club side Golden Arrows had an off weekend.

Zambian midfield stalwart Nathan Sinkala put in an impressive full 90 minutes shift for the Stellenbosh FC side that moved up to 3rd spot on the DSTV Premiership log table following their 3-0 derby win over Cape Town City.

Zambian goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata made his debut in the DSTV Premiership playing the full 90 minutes for the Sekhukhune United side that chalked up a 1-0 defeat in their away fixture at Baroka. Country-mate Cyril Mwenya Chibwe who is also a goalkeeper was an unused substitute for Baroka.

Former Cape Town City striker Justin Shonga is still in the Free Agency but will be on the move soon thanks to his Agent Karabo Mathang who is working behind the scenes to get him a new club.

Zambian goalkeeper coach Sam Zengaโ€™ Banda was on the technical bench for the Black Leopards side that returned to winning ways after beating Richards Bay 2-0.

In the Glad Africa Championship, Free State Stars edged Pretoria Callies 2-0. Zambian striker Collins Mbesuma was not included [personal] in the Pretoria Callies match day squad but will feature in their next match.

2012 AFCON winning defender Davies Nkausu is still a Free Agent and working on his coaching badges in South Africa.

The Zambian duo of Rodgers Kola and Paul Katema both featured for the George Lwandamina coached AZAM side that booked their spot in the next round of the CAF Confederations Cup after beating Somali outfit Horseed 1-0 and 4-1 on aggregate. Zambian winger Charles Zulu missed the match due to injury.

Zambian midfielder Rally Bwalya featured for the Simba SC side that was condemned to a 1-0 defeat when they hosted African giants TP Mazembe in an International Club Friendly for their annual Simba Day celebrations. The Zambian duo of Tandi Mwape and Rainford Kalaba featured for Mazembe; their club and country-mate Kabaso Chongo did not travel with the team.

Obrey Chirwa and his Namungo teammates are in Dar es Salaam for the next two weeks preparing for the upcoming Vodacom Premier League season.

In the Admiral Bundesliga, SK Sturm Graz thrashed WSG Tirol 5-0. Zambian striker Francisco Mwepu is still on the treatment table and as thus was not included in the Graz match day squad.

Claude Maurice Kaya has shelved his football ambitions for now for the Fashion industry and is now making his bread and butter on the runway.

In the NordicBet Liga, Zambian wing wizard Lubambo Musonda put in a 61 minute shift for the AC Horsens side that whitewashed the Hobro IK side 3-0.

Elsewhere in the NordicBet Liga, Zambian midfielder Valance Nambishi put in a full 90 minutes shift for the Fredericia side that was handed their first loss of the season when they took on log leaders Helsingor who beat them 4-2.

Belgian-born Zambian midfield-gem Charly Musonda Jr was not included in the match day squad for the Chelsea side that claimed derby bragging rights after thrashing Tottenham 3-0.

British-born defender of Zambian descent Jadel Katongo scored the third goal for the Manchester City U18 side that sealed a 5-2 victory when in their U18 EPL encounter against the Aston Villa U18 side.

Former Zambia National Team assistant coach Irfan Kawri was on the technical bench for the Chorley side that was held to a 2-2 tie when they took on Southport in an Emirates FA Cup encounter.

Zambian attacking midfielder Joe Mwasile came on as a second half substitute for the Nantwich Town side that was knocked out of the Emirates FA Cup by Banbury United who handed them a 2-1 defeat.

In the Northern Premier League, Zambian Left Back Mambwe Chilufya featured for Kendal Town in their 2-1 defeat to Clitheroe.

Over at the Global Stadium, Zambian striker Donald Chimalilo scored a belter for the Tadcaster Albion side but it was all in vain as they went on to record a 2-1 defeat in their Northern Premier League home encounter against Lincoln United.

Former Wigan U18 striker MwiyaMalumo came on as a second half substitute for the Irlam side that marched eased to a 3-1 win in their Northern Premier League encounter away at Longridge Town FC.

Former Belgian-born Zambian Tika Musonda is hard at work in his new role of Scout at English Premier League side Chelsea.

Zambian attacking midfielder Emmanuel Mukuka is still perfecting his craft before making another move, he last played for 3rd tier side TIPS.

In the Ligue 2 BKT, Zambian striker Jack Lahne got himself on the score-sheet after coming on as a second half substitute for the Amiens SC side that mounted a come-back from two goals down to force a 3-3 draw in their away encounter at Nimes.

In the Crystalbet Erovnuliga 2, Dinamo Zugdidi hosted Merani Tbilisi in what was a mid-table clash which ended in a 4-1 score in favor of Tbilisi. Zambian striker Noble Rumsey was not included in the Zugdidi match day squad.

In the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, on loan Arsenal Tula winger Lameck Banda tasted 90 minutes of action for the Maccabi Petah Tikva side that dropped two vital points drawing 1-1 in their home encounter against Hapoel Tel Aviv.

In the Campionato Primavera 1, Zambian wonderkid Mannah Mwewa Chiwisa scored his first goal for the Atalanta U19 side that drew 2-2 when they took on the Sampdoria U19 side.

South African-born Irish striker of Zambian descent BJ Banda scored for the fourth week running and it helped give the Ballinamallard United side a comfortable 2-0 win in their Bluefin Sport Championship home encounter against Knockbreda.

In the Liga Portugal 2 SABSEG, the match between Mafra and CD Trofense saw no goals and went on to end in a barren draw [0-0]. Zambian youngster Abel Kanyamuna was an unused substitute for Trofense.

Over in the Scottish Championship, British-born defender of Zambian descent Frankie Chisenga Musonda did not feature owing to injury for the Raith Rovers side that moved up to 5th spot on the log table after edging Greenock Morton 1-0.

In the Allsvenskan, log leaders Djurgarden picked up a point after playing out to a 1-1 draw in their away fixture at Malmo FF in a match which saw the Zambian duo of Edward Chilufya and Emmanuel Banda feature for Djurgarden.

Zambian goalkeeper Ezra Mwansa Chime is still on the look-out for a new club. He too like his colleague Claude Maurice in the Czech Republic could be swapping the soccer field for the Fashion Runway.

Go Ahead Eagles chalked up their second win in the Eredivisie after beating PEC Zwolle by a 1-0 score. Seasoned Zambian striker Jacob Mulenga is nursing a slight injury and was not included in the Eagles squad.

Dutch goalkeeper of Zambian descent Malcom Mateyo put in a full 90 minutes shift for the Heerenveen U17 side that beat the AZ Alkmaar U17 side 4-2.

Zambian right back Shemmy Mayembe is in the Free Agency after leaving FC Minaj and his Agent is already hard at work trying to get him a new club.

Elsewhere in the USL League 1, Zambian-born American defender Aime Mabika was a notable absentee for the Fort Lauderdale side that was held to a 2-2 draw in their away fixture at Tormenta. It is believed that Aime who has always expressed to play for Zambia is training with parent club Inter Miami and could feature in their MLS encounter against Nashville in the midweek on Wednesday.

It was an off weekend for Ingram Kusaloka and his Mount Mercy Mustang teammates.

The Zambian-born American trio of James McBride, Moses Kabuswe and Brian Matipa all featured for the Taylor University Trojans that went down 4-0 when they took on Missouri Baptist of which club/country-mates Paul McBride and Webby Phiri did not feature.

Former Zambia U20 National Team player Peter Masikini who serves as assistant coach for the Carroll University Pioneers guided his lads to a 2-1 win over University of Wisconsin.

It was a weekend to forget for Zambian national Joe Kateule and his GC Lancers following the 5-0 hammering the received at the hands of the Columbia Cougars.

Zambia-born Canadian coach Rumbani Andrew Munthali who doubles up as U17 & U19 coach at the Sporting Kansas Academy also had a weekend to forget after both the U17 and U19 lost their games against Real Colorado U17 & U19.

Zambian โ€“ born American midfielder Charles Renken is now on the management at MLS club side St. Louis FC where he is part of the Academy staff, he does though continue to support his Academy back in Zambia with help from various friends and collaborators in the USA.
