LEGENDARY former Zambian Football midfield maestro Charles Musonda’s son Charly Jr. has not been given a jersey number by 2020/21 European Champions Chelsea for the new season, Zambianfootballnews.com understands.
Musonda and three others failed to secure moves away in the just ended transfer window after Thomas Tuchel indicated not to have any future plans for them.
Malang Sarr, Ross Barkley, Lewis Baker, and Charly Musonda Jr are now at risk of not playing first-team football until the next transfer window in January.
There are several other leagues still able to make transfers beyond September 1, but Russia and Turkey are the two likeliest destinations for these four.
The Russian Premier League’s transfer window is open until September 7, while the Turkish Super Lig teams will have one more day until September 8.
Musonda, on the other hand, has impressively overcome a career-threatening knee injury that forced him out for 18 months. But clubs might be reluctant to sign him due to his lack of football during that period.
Charly remains contracted as a Chelsea player until the summer of 2022, and the club are devoted to supporting and helping one of their ‘forgotten men’ around the club.
