ZAMBIA international striker Fashion Sakala jnr has been left out of the Rangers FC squad for upcoming Europa League play off against Armenia side Alashkert.
Sakala missed Friday’s 5-0 Scottish Cup spanking of Dunfermline with what boss Steven Gerrard described as “a niggling groin problem.”
After a promising start with a goal against Real Madrid in a pre-season friendly, Sakala has failed to make real impact at Rangers so far featuring in three competitive matches-all losses for the Ibrox side with no assists or goal.
This latest exclusion, tactical or injury enforced-not confirmed yet- is a set back for the Zambia international who Chipolopolo require to be fit and firing on all cylinders ahead of back to back World Cup qualifiers away at Mauritania on September 3 and Tunisia five days later in Ndola.
Rangers face the Armenians today at Ibrox and the return is Thursday 26th August.
On Sunday, Rangers return to the Scottish Premier League action at Ibrox against Ross County.
